While we often take rain gutters for granted, they’re an essential part of your home. Gutters channel rainwater away from your home and prevent costly water damage to your foundation, siding, and landscaping. This is especially true on Long Island, where homeowners regularly face heavy rains and ice storms.

County Roofing Systems has been installing gutters and downspouts for over 35 years. We understand the Long Island gutter installation process because we’re multi-generational Long Islanders. We install sleek, low-maintenance seamless gutters that enhance your home’s curb appeal.

Don’t take chances with your gutters! A poorly-installed gutter system increases your risks of leaks, mold, and erosion around your home. CRS customizes each gutter system to efficiently direct water flow away from your home. We use high-quality gutter materials and pay attention to detail.

For more information on gutter installations and to schedule a consultation, give us a call. We’re happy to look at your home, then give you an itemized free estimate. And we’ve handled all types of gutter installations, including historic homes.

Gutter Materials

Aluminum seamless gutters

ALUMINUM GUTTERS

Most Long Island homes use aluminum gutters. Unlike other materials, aluminum gutters don’t corrode over time. They’re also lightweight, which makes them easy to install and reduces the risk of sagging over time.

We fabricate your new seamless aluminum gutters on-site to fit your home’s specific dimensions. Your new gutters will not only give your house a clean, streamlined appearance. They protect your home against water damage, erosion, and basement flooding.

Copper gutter system

COPPER GUTTERS

A copper gutter system can last up to 100 years with proper maintenance. This makes copper gutters a one-time investment that can significantly enhance your home’s value. Over time, your copper gutters will shift from a bright metallic finish to a more muted, greenish hue.

Copper gutters require professional installation and cost more per linear foot than aluminum gutters. But their low maintenance needs and long lifespan make them a great option for homeowners looking for a beautiful, long-lasting gutter.

Galvanized Gutters

STEEL GUTTERS

Galvanized steel gutters use steel coated with a layer of zinc to protect against rust and corrosion. They can stand up to the heavy rainfall and strong winds we often see on Long Island. You can also paint steel gutters to match your home’s exterior.

While your galvanized steel gutter system is built to last, you should keep an eye on your gutters as they age. In time the zinc layer can wear away and you may start seeing rust. Regular inspections and maintenance can ensure your steel gutters perform effectively for decades.

VINYL GUTTERS

Vinyl gutters are lightweight, inexpensive, and resistant to rust and corrosion. But their durability is a major concern. Long Island weather conditions warp vinyl in the summer and make it brittle in the winter. Vinyl gutters also frequently sag or break under the weight of snow or ice.

We feel that Long Island homes need a more durable gutter solution. If your home currently has vinyl gutters, we urge you to contact us for a better gutter alternative.

Gutter Styles

K style gutter

K-STYLE GUTTERS

These gutters resemble the letter “K” from the side, hence their name. K-style gutters are highly durable and can manage significant water flow. You’ll find K-Style gutters in a wide variety of materials and customization options. They blend seamlessly with many architectural styles.

BOX GUTTERS

Box gutters are deeper and wider than K-style gutters, so they can channel more water away from the structure. They’re also easier to clean thanks to their simple, boxy shape. Box gutters are a particularly good choice for people with expansive or flat roofs.

HALF ROUND GUTTERS

Half-round gutters offer a classic, timeless look that is particularly suited to traditional and historic homes. They are semi-circular, which lets water flow freely and reduces the likelihood of clogs. But they require more support to stay in place, so you need an experienced gutter installation specialist.

YANKEE GUTTERS

Yankee gutters, commonly found on historic homes, are integrated into the roof structure itself. Yankee gutters can provide excellent drainage. But they require regular maintenance to prevent leaks and water damage to the roof and fascia.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gutter Installation

What are gutter guards?

Gutter guards are protective metal or plastic mesh guards that allow water to pass while blocking larger debris. Gutter guards reduce the need for frequent gutter cleaning and prevent potential water damage caused by clogged guards.

What is the difference between seamless and sectional gutters?

Seamless gutters are custom-made to fit your home and have fewer joints, which reduces the likelihood of leaks. Sectional gutters are pre-cut and joined together on-site, making them more prone to leaks at the seams.

Can I install gutters myself, or should I hire a professional?

Professional gutter installation is highly recommended. If you do not correctly pitch and secure your gutters, you could face water damage to your roof and your home.

Do gutters come in different widths?

Gutters most frequently come in 5-inch and 6-inch widths. A 6-inch gutter can handle over 50% greater water flow than a 5-inch gutter. You may need a 6-inch gutter if your roof is large, steep, or complex.
